Bianca Sofia Rubalcava
Bianca Sofia Rubalcava is a Ph.D candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of CA, Irvine. Having grown up in the East Bay, she earned her B.A. in Politics and Women’s and Gender Studies from Saint Mary’s College of CA in 2017. She went on to receive her M.A. in Political Science with an emphasis in Feminist Studies in 2020 and is currently working on completing her dissertation. Her dissertation concerns the legal, ethno-racial, and cultural identification of Mexican Americans. Specifically, she interrogates anti-Blackness and anti-Indigeneity in Mexican American racialization and how this impacts coalition building between communities. She has taught courses in Racial and Ethnic Politics, Gender Politics, and American Politics at Cal Poly Pomona and UC Irvine.
