     • Thursday, April 18th 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Come to the fair! Faculty, Students, and Staff invited to gather for a celebration of ten years of Middle East & Islamic Studies at SFSU. Food, creative works/research posters, information tables, and slide shows will be ongoing throughout the fair hours. For specifically scheduled events (creative readings, documentary film trailer, panel discussion, musical performances etc), please see below.

WEDNESDAY APRIL 17

12-12:15 p.m. Michael David Lukas (Creative Writing), reading from his most recent novel The Last Watchman of Old Cairo

1:30-2 p.m. “Pushing Against the Water” – Kristen La Follette (Creative Writing) reading from her play, drawn from oral history interviews with Bay Area Muslim Women.

2:30-2:45 p.m. “We are Here, We've Always Been Here,” Iranian-American documentary film screening -- co-directed by Persis Karim (Comp. World Lit/Center for Iranian Diaspora Studies) and Soumyaa Behrens (Director of the DocFilm Institute).

 

THURSDAY APRIL 18
