Biography

Kathy Emery is Lecturer in the Department of Political Science and has a PhD in Education from UC Davis. She teaches courses in political movements and U.S. politics.  She is the co-author of two books: Lessons from Freedom Summer (Common Courage, 2008); Why is Corporate America Bashing Our Public Schools (Heineman, 2004); and wrote the teaching materials for the teaching edition of The People's History of the United States (New Press, 1997).  She is also the author of many articles and has been involved in SF politics as an activist and community organizer since 2001.
